Contest Rules

​

1.Eligibility:  Open to all residents within the City of Avalon.
2.Entry:   Entry is free, with no cost or fees. Submit your entry application by 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 16th, 2023, through the online form provided.
3.Decoration Guidelines:   The contest is for exterior decorations only, including visible window decorations. Judging is based on "curb appeal" from the street, focusing on the street-side decorations.
4.Public Display:   Participants agree to have their address and decorated residence photos posted on the Avalon Audio/Video and Smart Home LLC. and City of Avalon websites/Facebook pages. Photos may also be shared on various social media platforms and local media outlets, with no compensation.
5.Prizes:   One Grand Prize and four additional prizes will be awarded (details to follow).​

6.Judging is based on:

• Unique design and creative use of lights and decorations

• Storyline or theme.

• Display and placement of decorations

• Overall presentation.

7.HOW TO VOTE

• Go to www.AvalonSmartHomes.com/VoteHDC

• Click “VOTE” link on website

8.Judging Period:   Judging concludes on Saturday, December 16th at 5 pm.
Ensure all lights and decorations are in place and activated during the judging period,
9.Participant Ornament:   Upon entry, participants will receive a HDC Ornament
10.Participant Map:   Your home's location will be pinned on the map for others to find.

Winner Announcement:

Winners will be notified by email and/or telephone on Tuesday, December 12th.

The announcement of winners will be made on Friday, December 16th, in the Catalina Islander Newspaper, and posted on the City of Avalon and Avalon Smart Homes websites and social media platforms.
